Description

The Shifter Actuator is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is an electronic component located in the transmission assembly that controls the shifting between wash cycles. The shifter actuator receives signals from the control panel to change the drum rotation speed and direction depending on the selected wash cycle settings.

Symptoms of a bad shifter actuator include:

  • The washer fails to change cycles or stay on one speed setting
  • Abnormal noises coming from the transmission area
  • Delayed or hesitant shifting between cycles

Causes of failure are usually due to normal wear and tear over prolonged use. Not replacing the shifter actuator can result in transmission damage over time.
